Free Eco Grants Including Free Solar Panel Grants
There are government grants available to help people install solar panels. ECO4 is the latest phase of an ongoing government scheme to support low-income households by improving homes’ energy efficiency. The scheme is all about saving energy, making homes warmer and reducing carbon emissions. It aims to ensure large energy companies support income-restricted households via their local authorities including Fylde and Eden.
ECO4 is available to homeowners, landlords or tenants but you must be under a certain income threshold or on a qualifying benefit.
The main solar panel grant available from the UK Government in 2022 was the ECO4 funding, which covered 70% of the cost of solar PV systems for residential properties. Whilst solar panel costs in the UK have reduced in recent years, the average cost of a 3Kw solar PV system in 2022 was approximately £5000. This can vary depending on the size of the system and which installer you use but the possibility of reducing this cost by up to 70% could make this green energy option a much more affordable one for your household.
